Surrounded by the evocative Vena del Gesso and the green hills of the Tuscan-Romagnolo Apennines, the Golf Club was established in 1992 and covers an area of over 200 hectares. The 18-hole course was designed by architect Marco Croze. The course is very technical: flat holes alternate with potholes sometimes with steep slopes. Its terrain tests the player’s accuracy and power, but also make for a pleasant and enjoyable game. Making the course even more lively are lakes, bunkers and an special obstacle, the calanco, a spectacular geological phenomenon typical of the area. The beautiful Club House, converted from an old farmhouse, contains a lounge, bar and restaurant where you can taste the typical dishes of Romagna. In addition, there are many amenities such as a swimming pool, tennis court, soccer field, gym and room for playing cards and billiards. So there are activities for even the of non-golfers.
The Wildlife Protection Oasis “Il Quadrone”, was established in 1985 by the Province of Bologna. It is located in the municipal area of Medicina on land owned by Coop. Agricola LACME. It covers about 270 hectares, inside the Cassa del Quadrone where there are wetlands with a valley, hygrophilous woodlands, a meadow and grove area. It is a shelter for many animal and plant species. It is possible to follow an itinerary starting from the Visitor Center that takes the visitor to the different environments to observe their flora and fauna. From wooden huts, visitors can practice BIRDWATCHING and read the informational signs that tell the history of the area and describe the animal and plant species that can be observed. The features of the place, the favorable environmental conditions and the low impact agricultural activities, make the Oasis an area well suited for environmental education. For this reason, in 2003 the agricultural cooperative LA.C.ME. made it an FATTORIA DIDATTICA (an educational farm) and hosts, for the whole school year, guided tours and workshops for school children in at its visitors center.
Started in 1975 and named after its founder Augusto Rinaldi Ceroni, Il Giardino delle Erbe was begun with the aim of conserving and cultivating plants of medicinal and aromatic interest. Owned by the Emilia Romagna Region and entrusted to the Municipality of Casola Valsenio, it is part of the Museum circuit of the province of Ravenna. In its terraces with a splendid view of the Vena del Gesso Romagnola, about 450 species of medicinal plants used in cooking, medicine and cosmetics are cultivated. Their cultivation is done according to the tradition of the monasteries in where, since the early Middle Ages, these plants have been grown in the gardens and in the “officine”. Il Giardino delle Erbe is a center of knowledge of medicinal plants, thanks to activities ranging from research and teaching to dissemination and experimentation, involving both experts and visitors of all ages. The Garden is open to visitors during the day, respecting the structures and cultivated parcels, but if you really want to experience the world of medicinal plants by touching and smelling them, book a guided tour or a workshop and go through the Perfumes, enter the Chamber of Wonders. And do not leave without buying […]
The cave of King Tiberius is undoubtedly the best known and celebrated cave in the Parco del Vena del Gesso Romagnola due to the presence of archaeological evidence attesting to presence of man extended for several millennia. The cave is reachable by a narrow and in some points steep panoramic path, which climbs up the side of the gypsum wall, and is connected to a mining site. During the climb, just before reaching the entrance to the cave, you can see the entrance to a quarry tunnel, one of many excavated in the ’60s and’ 70s. In fact, inside Monte Tondo there is a network of artificial tunnels stretching over 20 kilometers. From the entrance hall of the cave, suggested by the presence of numerous artificial niches, we find “seats” and drinking troughs carved out of the rock. From here, the viewer will have a unique view of the valley and the Borgo Rivola. The cave, which is more than four kilometers long, can easily be explored on foot, with normal clothes, for a stretch of about sixty meters to the Gothic Hall. Further along it is necessary to have speleological equipment to continue (it is always necessary the permission […]
