Casola Valsenio’s Forgotten Fruit Festival

Market exhibition of autumn products and ancient fruits.

The Casola Valsenio Forgotten Fruit Festival returns, the traditional event dedicated to the rediscovery of those fruits whose use has long been lost.

During the second and third weekends of October (10-11 and 17-18), the farmers of Casola display the autumn fruits collected from ancient plants, in a setting reminiscent of the cultural and folkloristic aspects of rural life in the past.

The protagonists will be precisely them: medlars, azaroles, rowanberries, hazelnuts, chestnuts, strawberry trees, cornelian cherries and all the other small autumn fruits, forgotten in the transition from agricultural to industrial society.

The Casola Valsenio Chestnut will also be the star of the Forgotten Fruit Festival in Casola Valsenio. It will be possible to buy directly from the producers themselves, freshly picked from the chestnut grove, in an authentic zero kilometre journey that is difficult to replicate in other places or events.

Particular attention will be paid to children’s entertainment: small carpentry workshops, biscuit making, various recreational activities, and numerous street artists and musicians from all over Italy.

There will also be an exhibition and sale of traditional fruit trees, destined to beautify parks and gardens.
There will also be shows, exhibitions, and tastings.
