{"id":14175,"date":"2024-03-07T17:41:01","date_gmt":"2024-03-07T16:41:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.imolafaenza.it\/?p=14175"},"modified":"2024-03-19T16:41:02","modified_gmt":"2024-03-19T15:41:02","slug":"castel-bolognese","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.imolafaenza.it\/en\/towns\/castel-bolognese\/","title":{"rendered":"Castel Bolognese"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Located along the\u00a0Via Emilia, halfway between\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imolafaenza.it\/en\/towns\/faenza\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Faenza<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imolafaenza.it\/en\/towns\/imola\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Imola<\/a>, Castel Bolognese is an important agricultural and industrial town founded by Bologna in 1389.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, it was an outpost built to defend Bologna territories, and was under control of the city until the end of the XVII Century.<\/p>\n<p>The original city walls were partly destroyed in 1501 by Cesare Borgia, known as Il Valentino, but were immediately rebuilt. Little or nothing of the old walls remain, except for a few tracts of walls, some towers and vague traces of the recently rebuilt ancient fortress.<\/p>\n<p>The archaeological material found in the municipal territory is housed in the \u201cUmberto I Municipal Museum\u201d.
