Camminar per sagre, see you in 2018!

Camminar per sagre, see you in 2018!

Success for the debut of the initiative devised by IF to raise awareness of nature, villages and cuisine in the area between Imola and Faenza. It will return in spring of 2018.

The participants of the first edition of Camminar per sagre arrived from the Adriatic Riviera, from Bologna and Ravenna, even all the way from Ferrara and Modena: a hundred “walkers” who, intrigued by the food and wine specialties of the autumn festivals, explored the Romagna Apennines between Imola and Faenza. Marking the initiative is the combination of the Sunday morning trekking, with an environmental guide that illustrated the natural and historical wonders of the places they crossed, and lunch in one of the festivals characteristic of the valleys formed by the Sillaro, Santerno, Senio and Lamone rivers.

The program of the first edition of Camminar per sagre has been formed around the most famous autumn festivals: the Festival of Forgotten Fruits of Casola Valsenio with a panoramic trek from the writer Alfredo Oriani’s house-museum to Monte Battagliola and the Romanesque parish church of Campiuno; the “Le erbe degli Sforza” festival in Riolo Terme with a walk in the heart of the Parco del Vesso del Gesso Romagnola up to its highest peak, Monte Mauro; the “Sagra del marrone” IGP festival of Castel del Rio walking right among the chestnut groves and collecting the precious nuts; “la Sagra dell’ulivo e dell’olio” the festival dedicated to olives and DOP oil in Brisighella, where you can go up and down the three hills on which this enchanting medieval village is perched.

Given the great response from the public, the initiative devised by IF Imola Faenza Tourism Company will be returning again next year, starting with the first festivals of March 2018 and continuing through the summer.
